The second VIASANO congress in Belgium

The Second VIASANO Congress took place on the 30th November 2010 in Hasselt, one of the pilot towns.

The congress focused on an important question: “How to integrate the environment in the promotion of healthy lifestyles?”. Indeed, Urbanism, active transports (bicycle, walks…), and life habits, are topics presenting a vital impact on both environment and health. It is thus important to find synergies as part of the VIASANO actions.

On this topic, the attendees could welcome an introduction from Prof. Geof Rayner from the Brunel University and visiting research fellow of the European Project on Obesity Governance.

The main objective was also to share concrete experiences and ideas between all the VIASANO actors: elected representatives, local project managers, scientific experts, local actors and partners. To do this the afternoon was dedicated to the presentation of 6 “best in class” actions implemented in the VIASANO towns related to the main theme of the congress.
